Originally from Los Angeles, Johana (Jo) Finetti has been a proud San Francisco resident for the last seven years. Since obtaining her Bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University, she has explored her role as a teacher in a number of unique settings, working with age groups from toddlers with special needs all the way up to the university level, as a part-time lecturer for one year at her alma mater. She currently works in an Early Head Start program with deaf and hard of hearing children, where she is also an active union member with UESF. She also works for a non-profit after school arts enrichment program at Rooftop, an alternative elementary school with a focus on teaching children social justice through the arts. As a Jeremiah Fellow in the 2011-12 cohort, she found her voice as a social justice activist for the first time, and is playing a leadership role in Bend the Arc’s campaign for progressive taxation and the common good.
