Michael J. Kuhn

Michael Kuhn was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1935. He obtained his B.S and C.P.A from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana Illinois. Michael moved to Dallas, Texas in 1961 to form a C.P.A. firm and later became President of a hospitality group that built hotels throughout the U.S. In 1978, he moved to Austin, Texas to operate the Stephen F. Austin Hotel.  He formed a real estate management company, Dimension Properties, Inc., which he currently operates.  Michael is married to Alice J. Kuhn, and is the father of three sons.

Michael and Alice formed the Michael and Alice Kuhn Foundation in 1996.  The Foundation’s mission is to promote social justice projects for the benefit of constituencies who have historically been denied access to social influence, economic power and resources, with strong emphasis on encouraging synagogues to participate in social justice programs, through the Foundation’s support of Bend the Arc, Just Congregations, and other community organizing groups and educational organizations.

Michael has been active in Jewish causes, serving on the board of the Jewish Home for the Aged in Dallas, Treasurer of the Jewish Federation of Austin and Treasurer of the Austin regional office of the Anti-Defamation League. He has served as Chair of the City of Austin Cable Commission, and on numerous other boards.  He has been on the board of Bend the Arc for many years.
