Alan van Capelle, CEO of Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice, released the following statement congratulating President Obama and all of the winners in yesterday’s election.

“Last night was a defining moment for America and for Jewish progressive activism across the country. Over the last few months, the Bend the Arc team worked to lift up Jewish voices fighting for the ideals that will define the type of country in which we want to live. The results are exciting. The ‘Dream Act’ passed in Maryland, Californians agreed to much-needed revenue increases and three states approved marriage equality for all, with a fourth defeating an anti-equality ballot measure. And that is just the beginning of all that was accomplished yesterday.

“As we now turn our attention away from the election and towards the upcoming budget battles and the ongoing fight against inequality in all forms, we are more confident than ever that the Jewish community will be among those marching for freedom and opportunity.

“We congratulate President Obama and all of the election’s winners. We are excited to work with the President, new Congress and others to tackle the mounting issues facing our country.”
