Stosh Cotler Speaks at Congregation Beth Am on "The American Jewish Voice in Progressive Politics"

For generations, American Jews have been part of our nation's most significant struggles for justice, inspired by our ethical tradition and motivated by the stories of our ancestors, both ancient and recent. Today, a new generation is reconnecting with and reclaiming that legacy. Ms. Cotler will share how Jews are coming together from across the country to advocate and organize for our nation's politics to reflect our shared values of dignity and fairness for all.
The service and talk will be followed by a community Oneg Shabbat sponsored by Beth Am Women.

BART Board of Directors Meeting

Last November, 14 Black activists known as the "Black Friday 14" shut down the West Oakland BART station in protest of the lack of accountability for the deaths of Black people at the hands of police. Despite their courage to disrupt business as usual and demand real justice in the face of these killings, the Black Friday 14 are now facing penalties out of proportion to what other non-violent protestors have faced — criminal trespass misdemeanor charges and $70,000 in restitution.

Chanukah and Chutzpah

Join with Bend the Arc this Chanukah to show up and take action to demand an end to police violence. We originally invited you to join us at Chanukah + Chutzpah so we could gather to celebrate our victory on Proposition 47, a key first step towards fighting mass incarceration. Now we’re adding an action and vigil to follow the event.
