Call Your Assemblymember: Pass The California Act to Save Lives (AB392)

Thank you for making a call to your State Assemblymember to save California lives by supporting AB 392. We need the support of your Assemblymember to win — and they need to hear from constituents to know that if they take this needed step to support overdue reform, their constituents will have their back. You'll receive a call connecting you with your Assemblymembers — below is a suggested script to use for your message, and below it is an infographic you can use for more information. Feel free to adopt to make it more personal:

“Hi, my name is ____ and I live in ____. I’m calling to ask for your support on AB 392, Assemblymember Weber’s bill to update California’s outdated use of force laws to ensure that police officers avoid using deadly force at every possible opportunity.

Officers at agencies with stricter use of force policies kill fewer people and are less likely to be killed or seriously injured themselves. In the Jewish community, we are taught that saving one life is saving a whole world, so I urge you to vote ‘Aye’ on AB 392 and lead the Jewish Caucus to support this needed bill.

In addition, I ask you to please support the strong language of the bill that impacted families are asking for: that police should only use deadly force when necessary, use de-escalation whenever possible, and accountability when officers use unnecessary force. Thank you.”
