These protests supported by the Republican Party are hotbeds of antisemitism, racism, and dangerous conspiracy theories — and they are a threat to our health and safety during this pandemic.
As Jewish Americans and allies, we demand you disavow the Reopen protests and members of your party for spreading antisemitism and racism and putting all of our health in danger."
Our communities are hurting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead of taking responsibility, members of the Trump administration and the GOP are placing the blame on Democratic governors, medical professionals, Jews, Asian Americans, and immigrants.
This scapegoating has enabled and emboldened Reopen protests featuring violent antisemitic imagery and conspiracy theories. Republican office holders and officials in at least four states have conflated COVID-19 health orders with the Holocaust and Nazism. (Watch the video above for details.)
Meanwhile, essential workers and communities of color remain unprotected and disproportionately at risk — and almost 100,000 Americans have died.
No one is safe when this spreading of hate and misinformation goes unchecked. It’s time for the GOP to condemn the toxic culture of antisemitism, racism, and white nationalism — both at Reopen protests and in their own party.
