Our country’s response to the COVID-19 crisis must be judged by how we care for the most vulnerable among us. Right now we are failing this test.
Twenty three Jewish groups sent a letter to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, urging them to provide the clear, moral political leadership that this country desperately needs. Congress must rise to the gravity of this moment. The only appropriate response to the coronavirus pandemic is one that:
- Protects public health, full stop.
- Provides financial relief to the most vulnerable, not corporations.
- Protects everyone, regardless of their immigration status, age, or ability.
- Ensures that elections can take place safely.
