Shabbat morning marking justice: Worship+canvass to Honor Jews' obligation to seek justice with our vote

Description

As our community honors our tradition of justice and reflects on our ability to survive in the face of historical oppression, we invite you to participate in a meaningful building of community: Shabbat service followed by a canvass to Flip the House.

We will convene at a meeting room in northern Los Angeles County at 10:30 on Shabbat Saturday morning (location in the Santa Clarita Valley emailed/texted after RSVP). Spiritual leaders have prepared a timely Torah reading to unpack the issues that have faced Jews and Americans at large over the past week – preparing us to close out Election Season strong.

After worship and holding of space in community, we will prepare to canvass for Congressional candidate Katie Hill (Democrat for CA-45) and a training will be held to prepare everyone. *Plans for this morning canvassing have been designed to be Shabbat observant, in conjunction with canvassers' personal observance and religious traditions. Accommodations include use of paper lists, walking without driving, et al.*

NOTE:

If you are planning to travel significant distance to Santa Clarita to participate and choose not to drive after sundown Friday (observing Shabbat), we would like to speak with you about Friday accommodations. Please use the phone number provided to coordinate a Shabbat-observant participation.
