Our reaction
How did this happen? The Governor and Chief Justice didn’t make a spontaneous decision to support bail reform. Our coalition created the pressure to make the governor want to put his weight behind this.
Thank you to all of our coalition partners, and our leaders and chapters in California — SoCal, Bay Area, South Bay and San Luis Obispo — who have been making calls, signing petitions, organizing phone banks, lobby visits, petition drives, press work, public events and more to pass SB 10.
Ready to keep fighting for bail reform
What’s next? The fight isn’t over. We need to keep the pressure to make sure California has a more fair, just, and safe bail system. We have commitments from the Governor and Chief Justice to work on bail reform, but we still need your help to win the strongest bill possible as it is amended and then voted on in the next legislative cycle.
Help us lift up the Jewish community’s call for the current bail system to be dismantled:
If you haven’t signed yet, add your name to the petition: Jews in California demand money bail reform.
If you have signed, help us spread the word about the Governor and what’s next by sharing this blog post on Facebook or Twitter.
Thanks for all your support,
Leili Davari-Bitton and Anjuli Kronheim Katz, Regional Organizers
