Sign the petition: Safety for immigrants means driver’s licenses for all

To Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins:

As a member of the Jewish community in New York, I’m urging you to pass the Driver’s License Access and Privacy Act before June 19th.

Dignity and safety for immigrants in New York means not having to wait another year to be able to drive without fear of deportation. More New Yorkers can live, love, and thrive when everyone can access driver’s licenses. Jewish New Yorkers are calling on you to do the right thing — and when you do, we’ll have your back.

Right now, immigrants in New York are vulnerable to Trump’s deportation machine.

Every day, just one interaction with police can lead to arrest, detainment, and deportation for members of our immigrant communities — all because they aren't able to get a driver's license.

As Jews, we know what it means pack our bags and flee for our lives, seeking refuge in new places. That’s why we stand up, speak out, and organize to protect people in danger.

Thankfully, we have an opportunity to live our Jewish values and support immigrants to live without fear. State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins has the power, before the current legislative session ends on June 19th, to call for a proper vote on the Driver’s Licenses Access and Privacy Act. That bill would restore driver’s license access to all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status.

Add your name to make sure Senator Stewart-Cousins hears from you to do the right thing and allow for a vote to restore driver’s license access to all New Yorkers.
