Michigan Jews for Democracy

We are Michigan voters. We are proud American Jews, committed to the safety and flourishing of the Jewish community, and our nation’s democracy. We come from a wide range of the political spectrum, and we intend to vote for Dr. Abdul El-Sayed for the United States Senate in 2026.

Some of us are enthusiastic supporters of El-Sayed. Some of us have reservations.

But one thing is clear: Mike Rogers embraces a far-right political agenda which makes Jews and all Americans less safe. After weighing the candidates – their records, their policies, the coalitions they would strengthen, and the direction we want for Michigan and the country — we have made our choice. We are Michigan Jews for Democracy, supporting Abdul El-Sayed for Senate.

What if I feel conflicted about my vote in the Michigan Senate race? Is there space for me here?

Yes! You don’t have to be all-in on Abdul El-Sayed — or any candidate! — to be part of this space. We don’t all agree on everything, and that’s okay. As our letter says, a vote is a strategic chess move, not a valentine.

What resources do you have to help me talk about this race with people in my community?

More resources are coming soon! Email [email protected] if you would like to connect with a member of our volunteer group.

Here are a few ways you can take action with Michigan Jews for Democracy

What voters need to know

In this race, Abdul El-Sayed is clearly the better choice for Jews, for all Michiganders. In Abdul, we see someone who understands what it is to live in the minority, who is open to listening and learning.

While Mike Rogers may be courting Jewish support to win in November, he embraces a far-right political agenda which we believe makes Jews and all Americans less safe. He promotes and would further legislation supporting election denialism, a national ban on abortions, making access to healthcare even more difficult than it already is — among so many other harmful policies. He fully supports the role of Donald Trump and the MAGA movement in American public life.

After weighing the candidates — their records, their policies, the coalitions they would strengthen, and the direction we want for Michigan and the country — we have made our choice.
