The PROMYSE (Promoting Youth Success and Empowerment) Act — Senate Bill 493 —  is a vital step to support many of California’s most vulnerable youth. SB 493 would reinvest hundreds of millions of dollars annually from law enforcement to youth services provided by schools, public health agencies, and community-based organizations.

California needs care-first systems that give youth, especially young people of color, the support and opportunities they need to thrive. But on May 3rd, the Senate Appropriations Committee moved SB 493 into suspension. If the committee members don’t hear from their constituents, the bill could die.

Fill out the form to call a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. If your state senator does not serve on the committee, you will be connected to Senate Committee Chair Anthony Portantino, whose decision is critical to moving the bill forward.  Make the call today and demand investment in California youth.
