The Wisconsin legislature is trying to pass AB446/SB445, a bill that would codify a dangerous definition of antisemitism into law.
In order to fight for democracy in our country, we understand the need for a robust response to combat antisemitism. However, we reject the Wisconsin legislature's attempts to pass AB446/SB445 and codify the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism. Bend the Arc — and other Jewish organizations — believe that this specific definition undermines the fight to dismantle antisemitism and could actually endanger Jews and all of us by stifling free speech and protest. The Trump administration is already using the facade of “fighting antisemitism” to enact a cruel, authoritarian agenda — and this would be another tool at their disposal.
