On March 30, 2026, beloved community member, activist, and legal permanent resident of Wisconsin Salah Sarsour was abducted by 12 ICE agents and taken to a detention center in southern Indiana. He is being targeted because he is Palestinian, is the President of the Islamic Society of Milwaukee, and has spoken out for Palestinian human rights.
Like they have in the past, the Trump regime is falsely, cynically claiming their actions are advancing Jewish safety,1 but we know ICE does not make Jews safer. Salah Sarsour is being detained and denied due process in the false name of Jewish safety, and as Jews, we won’t stand for it. We see this for what it is: the Trump regime using antisemitism as a smokescreen to crush our civil liberties and divert attention and resources away from fighting real antisemitism.
We’ve seen this before. We saw this when the Trump regime targeted Mahmoud Khalil, Badar Khan Suri, and Rümeysa Öztürk, and when they created a new government surveillance policy in the false name of Jewish safety.2 But his regime, which endangers Jewish life with Nazi salutes and its ties to the white nationalist movement, does not speak for us.
Join Jews across the country to demand that Salah Sarsour be released from custody and returned to his family immediately with his green card intact.
If you're a Wisconsin resident, sign this letter demanding Wisconsin officials do everything in their power to bring home Salah Sarsour.
