Senator Brown just decided to co-sponsor S.1473, an awful immigration bill introduced by Senators Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) and Thom Tillis (R-NC). This bill would effectively end the legal right to asylum. This legislation would create a new detention and expulsion regime, requiring mandatory detention of children and families, and would also further militarize border communities. As a Jewish community, as his constituents, we won’t stand for this. We have met with Senator Brown’s staffers multiple times where they have shared his commitment to a more humane immigration system and we are so disappointed that he would support this bill which is inconsistent with those stated values.

Given that you have expressed your commitment to a more humane immigration system and ending Title 42, we are shocked and disappointed that you would support legislation that would in-effect continue Title 42. This bill includes measures that would further harm immigrant communities and does not provide any meaningful and necessary changes to the immigration system.
