Description
Hosted by UW-Madison Multicultural Student Center (event on Facebook here)
On Friday afternoon in Christchurch, New Zealand, two terrorists murdered dozens of innocent Muslims in two mosques shortly after Juma'a prayer. One of the mosques had over 300 people in it. The terrorists live-streamed 17 minutes of the massacre.
This tragedy is felt by the entire Muslim ummah, community, all around the world, and we cannot sit idly by while our brothers and sisters are grieving. We must bear that heavy heart, as well.
Join us, first, by coming to the downtown masjid for Juma'a prayer* at 12:30pm, keeping the martyrs in your prayers. Second, we will be walking to the Multicultural Student Center for a letter-writing and photo campaign at 1:45pm to share with the world, that we, too, are praying and supporting our New Zealand ummah. Come with ideas, emotions, ready to brainstorm whatever we can do to help.
*Due to space capacity, we ask that the juma'a prayer be intended for Muslim community members only
