Tell Governor Newsom to Support the VISION Act

In California, when immigrants and refugees have completed their sentences in state prisons and local jails, law enforcement voluntarily transfers them to ICE custody for detention and deportation — disproportionately impacting Black, Latinx, and AAPI immigrant communities.

The VISION Act would stop these inhumane transfers to ICE and instead allow our immigrant neighbors to return home to their families and communities.  But we need Governor Newsom to support the bill if we want it to pass this year.

Right now, he needs to hear from California Jews and allies that we want him to take this crucial step to protect immigrants.

Here’s how to take action:

→ Have your phone near you. Complete the form below and you'll get a call that will connect you directly to Governor Newsom's office.*

→ Speak with a staffer or leave a voicemail using the script below.

Script:

Hi, my name is [NAME], I’m calling from [CITY], and I’m a member of Bend the Arc: Jewish Action.

I’m calling to urge Governor Newsom to support AB 937, the VISION Act, which would end double punishment of immigrants and refugees in our state.

Yesterday, the Governor received a letter signed by 140 people who have been directly impacted by the prison to ICE pipeline. As Jews, our faith commands us to stand with them in asking you to stop the cruel double punishment of immigrants who are ready for release simply because of where they were born.

Can we count on you to keep immigrant families together by supporting the VISION Act?
