#WeRemember: Days of Awe and Action for Immigrant Families

October 3-8: The Days of Awe are for remembering

This year, on the days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, American Jews are mourning and taking action to stop attacks on immigrant families.

Will Congress fund more cages and cruelty?

The debate to fund the government is happening now. The Trump administration is continuing to ask Congress for billions of dollars to escalate its cruelty on immigrant families and communities.

Jewish action to demand Congress Defund Hate

Join thousands of Jews and allies around the country to tell every Member of Congress to Defund Hate by cutting funding to and holding accountable ICE and CBP, the violent agencies that enforce Trump's immigration policies.

Congress has a major opportunity to atone for violence against immigrants and rein in ICE and CBP, the agencies responsible for enforcing Trump's cruel immigration policies.

RIGHT NOW, the biggest fight on immigration is happening over funding, and the Trump administration thinks the public isn’t paying attention.

Our week of action will be so much more powerful if EVERY member of Congress hears from the Jewish community — add to the chorus right now.

Share this page to make this week of action a success

If we celebrate the high holidays this year by fighting for immigrant justice, we can make our members of Congress cut funding for cruelty.

We Remember

We remember the names of the children who have died in US custody.

🕯Mariee Juárez, 2 (Sept 2018)

🕯Darlyn Valle, 10 (Sept 2018)

🕯Felipe Gomez Alonzo, 8 (Dec 2018)

🕯Jakelin Caal Maquin, 7 (Dec 2018)

🕯Juan de León Gutiérrez, 16 (Apr 2019)

🕯Carlos Gregorio Hernández Vásquez, 16 (May 2019)

🕯Wilmer Josué Ramírez Vásquez, 2 (May 2019)

We remember the families kept in cages, without soap, blankets, or water.

We remember the screams of children whose parents were rounded up in raids.

We reflect on our own history and how our people have been scapegoated, forced to flee, detained, and enslaved in the fight for freedom.

We atone for not doing more to stop our tax dollars from being used to dehumanize and attack immigrants.

And we commit to demanding Congress defund the hate of ICE and CBP and hold them accountable.

Resources for this moment

Here are resources to amplify your voice in this moment — whether you’re in the streets or on the phone with your member of Congress. Together, we can urge our Memberos of Congress to cut funding to ICE and CBP, agencies that terrorize immigrant communities every day.

Bend the Arc is a proud member of the Defund Hate coalition, led by Detention Watch Network, United We Dream, and other partners fighting for immigrant rights. So far, the coalition has successfully blocked over $5 billion in funding for border militarization and immigrant detention. Our demands:

No funding for a racist monument to white nationalism.
No funding for the agencies that separate families.
No funding for the agencies that put children in cages.
No funding for the agencies that terrorize and kill immigrants.
