— ELECTION 2024 —
We're fighting for leaders
who will fight for us
In addition to the presidential election this year, there are critical House and Senate races around the country that will impact our ability to protect our freedoms, our families, and our futures.
That's why we're rising up together as Jews and allies to fight for the leaders who will fight for us — from New York to Ohio, California to Illinois. And we need you with us in the final stretch before Election Day. Scroll down to sign up for a shift (or two!) and learn more about the closest races of this election.
— OUR SENATE CANDIDATES —
ANGELA ALSOBROOKS (MD-SEN)
It is critically important that we defend this Senate seat from being taken by a Republican, which could drastically impact the balance of power in Congress. Alsbrooks is currently the first female county executive of Prince George's County, as well as the first Black female county executive in Maryland history. She was also previously the county's state's attorney from 2010 to 2018.
SHERROD BROWN (OH-SEN)
Since January of 2007, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown has been a champion of middle-class families in the Senate. A lifelong Ohioan, Senator Sherrod Brown has spent his career fighting for the Dignity of Work — a concept inspired by the work and writings of Pope Leo XIII and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. His opponent, Bernie Moreno Moreno is a Trump ally who helped spread racist, right-wing rumors that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio.
— OUR HOUSE CANDIDATES —
TOM SUOZZI (NY-3)
Bend the Arc’s Long Island chapter has a long standing relationship with Rep. Suozzi from his time in Congress and took part in helping regain Democratic control of the seat in the special election. By working on his campaign, the chapter had an opportunity to be a Jewish voice advocating for him to have a different approach to antisemitism than the more right-leaning institutions who hold political power.
LAURA GILLEN (NY-4)
Gillen has a strong chance of flipping this seat back to Democratic control! She has been endorsed by labor unions, former Representatives Steve Israel and Carolyn McCarthy, EMILY’s List and local leaders from across the district. By supporting her campaign, we can offer an alternative vision of why Jewish constituents support her and build the relationship we need to organize her around our issues in office.
MONDAIRE JONES (NY-17)
In 2020, Mondaire was elected to Congress to represent the Hudson Valley. His colleagues unanimously elected him the youngest member of House leadership, and he was named the most legislatively active freshman in Congress. Meanwhile, his opponent Mike Lawler, is a colleague of Donald Trump and has a far-right voting record, including restricting a woman’s right to choose.
NIKKI BUDZINSKI (IL-13)
Bend the Arc’s Champaign-Urbana chapter has built a strong relationship with Rep. Budzinski and she’s been very responsive to our input on her votes and decisions. A native of Illinois, Rep. Budzinski has spent her career fighting to restore the American Dream for people like her grandpa, a union painter, and her grandma, a public school teacher — through increasing wages, workplace protections, infrastructure, and more.
ERIC SORENSEN (IL-17)
This race is one of the most competitive in the country and we can be part of holding this seat for Democrats. Rep. Sorensen was elected to serve Illinois’ 17th Congressional District in 2002 and before that served communities across Central and Northwestern Illinois as a local TV meteorologist, communicating live-saving information that impacted Illinoisans’ jobs, schools, farms, and safety.
SUE ALTMAN (NJ-7)
Sue proudly hails from NJ's 7th Congressional District. She became a leader in the movement to fight for New Jersey’s public education when she stood up to then-Governor Chris Christie in order to protect teachers and fight against cuts to our public schools. As leader of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, she spent years fighting corruption as part of her commitment to protect public education, save taxpayer money, fight corruption, and strengthen our democracy.
DAVE MIN (CA-47)
Katie Porter won this historically Republican district 4 years ago, so it'll be a tough seat to hold and every vote will count. Dave Min has been a State Senator, leading on reproductive freedom, small business advocacy, and anti-hate legislation, with extensive experience from his time as an enforcement attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission, economic policy advisor for Sen. Chuck Schumer, economic policy director at the Center for American Progress, and faculty at UC Irvine School of Law.
