Contact the Atlanta City Council to Stop Cop City

On May 15th, hundreds of Atlanta residents showed up to the City Council hearing and gave public comments for over seven hours in opposition to the planned construction of Cop City. One of our core leaders, Ben, was there and delivered a powerful public comment — check out his full remarks here! We need to keep this momentum up ahead of the next City Council meeting on June 5th.

At the June 5th City Council meeting, they will vote on the proposed legislation to authorize $31 million in public funding for Cop City. We must not allow this money to be approved.

We need investments in the public services that actually keep our communities safe, like affordable housing and education — not a multi-million dollar facility for police that will only continue to target and criminalize Black, brown, and poor Atlantans. There are 15 city council members, meaning we need 8 votes against the funding in order to stop it.

In addition to showing up on June 5th, we want to show the City Council that Atlanta does not support Cop City.

Send an email to the Atlanta City Council before June 5th to Stop Cop City!

Dear Councilmember,

I am writing to you today as a resident of the Atlanta area and as a member of Bend the Arc: Jewish Action to urge you to vote NO on June 5th on the proposed legislation to fund $31 million to Cop City.

The people of Atlanta have been speaking out for years that we do not want Cop City and we urge you to listen to your constituents, over the Atlanta Police Foundation and other corporations.
