Ben from Bend the Arc: Jewish Action Atlanta delivered a searing public comment to the Atlanta City Council on Monday, May 15, speaking out against the planned construction of the massive police training facility known as Cop City:
"Our communities are not going to be safer because police officers know how to ride horses. We need to use this funding to actually take care of each other."
He joined hundreds of Atlanta residents who attended and commented for over seven hours at the City Council meeting. They spoke powerfully to oppose Cop City, demanding that the $30+ million in public funding for the development instead be invested directly into communities and initiatives that actually keep people safe. They also cited the environmental impacts of the plans and the injustices already committed on protestors.
