Bend the Arc activists join Jewish Rally for Abortion Rights
Jewish communities march in Washington to reject the right’s attempts to force their unpopular beliefs onto millions of women and people who can become pregnant
WASHINGTON – Bend the Arc: Jewish Action released the following statement on Tuesday after activists from the Maryland chapter of Bend the Arc: Jewish Action participated in the Jewish Rally for Abortion Justice in Washington, held by the National Council of Jewish Women:
“Although right-wing politicians often cite so-called ‘Judeo-Christian values’ to support their attempts to force their unpopular beliefs onto others, the simple fact is that abortion access is a Jewish value, period,” said Rabbi Jason Kimelman-Block, Washington Director of Bend the Arc: Jewish Action. “The Supreme Court’s apparent plan to overturn Roe v. Wade leaves no question that a minority political movement of white nationalists and Christian nationalists is working to redefine who has rights in this country, whose voices count, and who belongs. Attempts to restrict reproductive rights and enforce xenophobic, anti-immigrant policies are part of their extremist agenda – and our Jewish communities are rising up to reject it.”
Bend the Arc: Jewish Action is uniting a movement of tens of thousands of progressive Jews across the country who are fighting for justice and equality for all. We are the only national Jewish organization focused exclusively on social change in the United States.
