I have a dear friend in Arizona who has been diagnosed with a schizoaffective disorder. He cannot hold a job right now and is currently homeless. He relies on Medicaid in the form of Arizona AHCCCS. Because he cannot hold a job, he will lose his Medicaid and any chance he has of coming out of this dark chapter in his life. He is 61 today, a PhD, a therapist, a college professor - but mental illness has robbed him of all of that. If it can happen to him, it can happen to any of us. I am terrified for him and for his future.
