To: House Leadership
Censure the President for his racist attacks on Democratic Congresswomen.
Condemn his continuing attempts to divide our country with white nationalist rhetoric and to fuel violence against people of color and immigrants.
President Trump just launched another racist attack on progressive leaders of color in an attempt to divide the Democratic party and solidify his white nationalist agenda — and if we remain silent, we’re letting him get away with it.
In a series of tweets, he targeted Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib, saying they should “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came."
It’s vile, it’s dangerous, it’s wrong. To make things worse, Trump is shouting claims of antisemitism against these Congresswomen — defending his racism by pretending to care about American Jews and attempting to divide our communities.
We do not consent. Trump doesn’t get to use Jews to reinforce his white nationalist agenda. That’s why we’re calling on House leadership to censure President Trump for his racist remarks.
If House leadership introduces a motion to censure President Trump — and they’re already moving forward a resolution condemning him now — every single Republican will have to go on record condemning or defending Trump’s racism.
It’s time to put all of Trump’s enablers on the defensive. Not one more excuse for racism. Not one more justification for white nationalist policies and rhetoric.
