New York – In response to the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations’ decision to hold its Hanukkah party tomorrow at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., Bend the Arc Jewish Action CEO Stosh Cotler issued the following statement:

"Jewish organizations have a tremendous responsibility not to normalize the dangerous, anti-democratic actions of Donald Trump. That’s why Bend the Arc Jewish Action and other major Jewish organizations are expressing outrage that the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations is holding its Hanukkah party tomorrow at the Trump D.C. hotel.

"We had hoped that the Conference of Presidents would listen to the rising tide of objections to this event over the past week and recognize that this decision not only condones the hateful rhetoric of the Trump campaign, but also the institutionalized conflict of interest the president-elect’s refusal to divest from his hotels and other businesses clearly represents. But with no announcement having yet been made, it is clear that the Conference is sticking with this decision, and we are deeply disappointed that they have not listened to the community’s objections and are acting so out of step with the fundamental values of the American Jewish community."
