Mazel tov to Zohran Mamdani! The Democratic primary for the Mayor of New York City was the nation’s first major referendum on what type of Democratic party Americans want to show up for them as Trump and his agenda loom over our communities.

And the answer was clear today: Americans are looking for leaders who offer the most contrast with the chaotic, cynical and dangerous MAGA world view, towards a nation of care and opportunity for everyone, regardless of income, race, religion, gender or status. Americans are looking for leaders who defy political boundaries in order to consistently hold human rights at the foundation of their policies. And Americans are looking for Democrats who don’t hide behind their values to check the temperature for what they will and won’t fight for, but to change the temperature and remind us all what we deserve.
