Building Multi-Racial Electoral Strategies for Progressive Change (Co-sponsored by Indivisible Montgomery)

Description

Cliff Albright co-founder (with La Tosha Brown) of Black Voters Matter Fund will be speaking on building multi-racial alliances and electoral strategies in the age of Trump.

It is now common wisdom that an indispensable part of building a political base for progressive change is to enhance and empower African American and minority voter power and political engagement. The effect is beneficial for all Americans. We saw a recent dramatic illustration of this in Alabama last November when the Democratic party candidate for senator Doug Jones narrowly defeated Republican Roy Moore this past November. The key to this victory in an overwhelmingly red state, was the mobilization of African Americans particularly African American women.

Through his organization, Cliff Albright played a critical role in this achievement. Cliff will talk about his successful strategies and how they can be applied here in Maryland. Here how predominantly white and predominantly people of color organizations can work together to bring about progressive change.

Come learn the strategies that have been successful in creating the partnerships with communities of color to further the progressive agenda.
