AB2664 would criminalize peaceful protest within 100 feet of religious institutions. It would make it a crime — punishable by up to $5,000 in fines and a year in jail — to hand someone a flyer or have a sign within 100 feet of any place of worship.

Our opposition claims that this bill is about fighting antisemitism, but the impact is that this bill, if passed, would restrict our First Amendment rights. Our democracy is under attack, and we need lawmakers focused on bills that strengthen our right to protest, not weaken it.

Suppressing constitutional rights in the false name of Jewish safety doesn't protect us. It actually risks fueling the very antisemitism it claims to fight. It's on us to let our legislators know that AB2664 will make Jewish Californians — and all Californians — less safe.

Use this tool to email the California Senate Public Safety Committee and your state senator to let them know you oppose AB2664.
