New York – In response to the “immigration framework” released yesterday by the Trump Administration, Stosh Cotler, CEO of Bend the Arc Jewish Action, released the following statement:
“The immigration policy proposals released by the White House are a product of the xenophobic fever dreams of Stephen Miller and other proponents of the Administration’s radical anti-immigrant agenda. This white nationalist wish-list is not an attempt to craft compassionate, serious immigration policy; it’s a betrayal of American and Jewish values that recall the shameful days of racial quotas and exclusionary laws."
“The 800,000 young people threatened by Trump’s decision to end DACA must not be held hostage to the fearmongering, racist whims of the President and his advisers, or be used as bargaining chips. No immigrant, of any age or country of origin, should be treated this way. Passage of a clean Dream Act–which already has strong bipartisan support in Congress–is supported by the overwhelming majority of Americans, and more importantly, it’s the right thing to do. Jewish Americans call on Congress to reject the Trump Administration’s bigoted proposals and act to protect Dreamers now.”
