Authoritarians love when we give up. Making us exhausted is part of their playbook. Steve Bannon calls it “flooding the zone.”

In her latest blog at Times of Israel, Bend the Arc’s CEO Jamie Beran writes:

Authoritarians depend heavily on voter fatigue, cynicism, and the feeling that no matter what we do, the fight never ends. Their strategy relies on the idea that a vote is enough or, even worse, that a vote is meaningless and democracy is something we can set aside.

So what do we do when the threats to our democracy feel too big? Have clear ways to take action — a powerful antidote to apathy.

Here are 3 clear upcoming ways you can take action with Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice to protect each other and our democracy:

LEARN: I’m leading a training on Zoom next Tuesday at 8pm ET with an amazing panel of election experts. RSVP for “They won't stop us from voting: What to do if you see election interference.”

VOLUNTEER: We have phonebank shifts to help get out the vote almost every day! Pick a shift (or two!) at allhands2026.org.

VOTE EARLY: Join millions in the streets for No Kings: Vote Early. Send a clear message with your neighbors: in America, we have no kings.

“Democracy, like our sacred text, is not a destination you arrive at; it is a continuous cycle of renewal, protection, and action,” Jamie shares.

“As Pirkei Avot teaches us: Lo alecha hamlacha ligmor, v’lo alecha ligmor — you are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to desist from it.”

I am grateful to do this work with you,
