New York – In response to President Donald Trump's signing of a series of anti-immigrant executive orders, Stosh Cotler, CEO of Bend the Arc Jewish Action, released the following statement:

“President Donald Trump’s latest executive orders, including his attacks on ‘sanctuary cities’, indicate that he has every intention of implementing the radical, anti-immigrant agenda he advocated for during the election. He continues to appeal to misguided, xenophobic fears, rather than the dignity and worth of all people. For decades, America’s cities have been beacons of hope for millions of immigrants who want nothing more than an opportunity to have a safe place to raise their families and to reach their full potential.

“Trump’s attacks against immigrants and his attempts to prevent local communities from protecting their most vulnerable members are dangerous, unacceptable and represent an assault on fundamental American values. As Jews, we understand the long history of immigrants being targeted, demonized and persecuted, and Trump is using these same false tropes against the immigrants of this generation.

“We are inspired by the local political leaders, including mayors and city council members across the country, who have made clear that they will resist these efforts by the Trump administration and will work to ensure their cities and communities remain safe for immigrants. Bend the Arc joins with these leaders in supporting our immigrant brothers and sisters and all those threatened by these executive orders.”
