New York – Following the Senate Judiciary Committee’s vote to advance the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, Stosh Cotler, CEO of Bend the Arc: Jewish Action, released the following statement:

“We agree with members of the Senate who are seeking a full investigation into the allegations against Brett Kavanaugh prior to a floor vote on his nomination. Americans deserve to know the truth before a vote of such momentous consequence takes place.

“We also express our profound gratitude for the courage of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Deborah Ramirez, and Julie Swetnick for coming forward with their stories, for Ana Maria Archila and Maria Gallagher, who confronted Sen. Flake today regarding his announcement of support for Kavanaugh, and for all survivors of sexual violence who have shown profound strength in sharing their own experiences in recent days.

“All this said, the Committee’s vote today to advance this nomination was a serious mistake. Kavanaugh’s demeanor, demonstrations of blatant partisanship, and lack of credibility after numerous untruths in his testimony yesterday make clear he is unfit to serve as a judge of any kind, let alone a Supreme Court justice.

“The Senate must delay Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote until there is a complete investigation.”
