In response to President Trump’s threat to deploy the U.S. military to our southern border with Mexico, Bend the Arc Jewish Action CEO Stosh Cotler said:
“President Trump’s repeated attempts to misuse the American military for his domestic political gain is a despicable tactic, one that American Jews recognize all too well as a hallmark of authoritarianism. Today’s casual threat to deploy troops to our southern border with Mexico is just the latest example; his demand for an expensive military parade, taken straight from the dictator playbook, is another.
Whether this is a serious proposal, or an offhand comment from a leader who doesn’t understand the Constitution, we hope Congress will step in to check his authoritarian tendencies and protect our servicemembers from unlawful orders.”
