Last night was absolutely historic. Our team at Bend the Arc is kvelling — bursting with joy!!!!
Voters across the country categorically rejected Trump’s party and its cruelty. Instead, we chose thriving for all of us, and visionary leaders who can deliver it.
There are almost too many victories to name in one email, but flipping both the House and the Senate — by margins we couldn't have imagined just months ago — means governing power to make our dreams come true.
I am grateful for everyone who made these wins possible by choosing solidarity, volunteering, and having hard conversations, even when powerful forces were working to divide us.
These wins were not inevitable. Every day, Trump and the MAGA movement worked to scare us: accusing opponents of antisemitism to try to divide Jews from our neighbors; spewing disgusting anti-Muslim and anti-Arab bigotry as an electoral strategy; trying (and failing) to interfere with our vote.
But Jewish communities saw through the smokescreen. There is real joy — cathartic, explosive joy — in knowing we chose our Jewish values over fear. We rose up with our neighbors and made this historic moment possible.
We are not naive about the road ahead. The threats of authoritarianism and white Christian nationalism remain. But I hope you feel it in your bones when I say: we have the power to confront it and defeat it. Last night proves that.
Today, I hope you’ll call someone who helped you get through the last few months. Hydrate, eat something delicious, and be with your people. We worked for this, and we get to enjoy it.
