New York – In response to ICE Acting Director Thomas Homan’s threatening comments about sanctuary cities yesterday, Stosh Cotler, CEO of Bend the Arc Jewish Action, released the following statement:
“The head of ICE wants to bring criminal charges against democratically elected local leaders, for implementing policies he doesn’t like. Anti-immigrant hysteria is being used to undermine democracy and militarize our neighborhoods—a tactic straight out of the authoritarian playbook. Jewish Americans have seen this before. We will continue to defend our American values, immigrant allies, and democratic process from ICE’s out-of-control behavior.”
