Washington, DC – Today in La Opinión, Bend the Arc: Jewish Action published a Spanish translation of their "Declaration of a State of Moral Emergency," signed by hundreds of Jewish organizations in response to the Trump administration's separation and detention of immigrant families.

The full list of organizational signers and the English and Spanish text of the Declaration of Moral Emergency is available on Bend the Arc: Jewish Action's website:

Stosh Cotler, CEO of Bend the Arc: Jewish Action, said:

“We chose to publish The Declaration of Moral Emergency in response to the Trump administration's escalating authoritarianism, and as an act of solidarity with immigrant families seeking refuge who are being terrorized by our government. Its hundreds of signers include synagogues of many denominations, local and national non-profit organizations, and institutions representing the breadth of Jewish American life. We have come together as a community because as Jews, we know that our government can persist in this inhumane behavior only if people remain silent.”

Bend the Arc: Jewish Action has been mobilizing Jewish resistance to the Trump administration's “zero tolerance” policies which criminalize immigrant families and refugees, including organizing two recent actions at LaGuardia Airport to witness the arrivals of migrant children, protesting outside the home of Secretary Nielsen, and engaging in civil disobedience in southern California. Today, Bend the Arc is bringing a contingent of supporters to the action in San Diego.

La Opinión, printed in Los Angeles, is the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the United States.
