Have you noticed a familiar pattern? Whenever AIPAC is in the news, the same headline comes up: Is criticism of AIPAC antisemitic?
Whatever your position on AIPAC, talking about their influence can be a challenge for Jews and non-Jews alike. We can inadvertently fuel antisemitism, or face false accusations of antisemitism that confuse our communities.
The truth is, that confusion is what AIPAC wants — it’s a deliberate strategy.
With the midterm elections just a few months away, we need to stop the cycle of confusion and smokescreen antisemitism so we can talk about the issues that matter most.
In a democracy, where power lies with the people and not the ultra-wealthy, we need to call out super PACs that fund candidates and policies that don’t keep us safe.
That means we need skills to talk about and respond to the smokescreen antisemitism that AIPAC uses to avoid valid criticism. But we need to do that without contributing to further antisemitism.
So, in this training from Bend the Arc: A Jewish Partnership for Justice, you’ll learn:
- Who AIPAC is and what it does
- Why its strategies contribute to real antisemitism
- When criticizing AIPAC is antisemitic, and when it isn’t
- How to talk about AIPAC without fueling antisemitism
