BEND THE ARC STATEMENT ON MONSEY ATTACK
New York – Following the stabbing attack at a rabbi’s home in Monsey, NY, during a Hanukkah celebration Saturday evening, yet another in a spate of recent antisemitic attacks against Hasidic communities in New York, Stosh Cotler, CEO of Bend the Arc: Jewish Action, released the following statement:
“We are heartbroken by last night’s devastating attack in Monsey, the latest in a growing list of horrific antisemitic, violent acts directed in recent days against Jewish communities in New York and around the country. Jews deserve to be safe — in our homes, our synagogues, our cities — the rising tide of violence against our communities must be urgently addressed.
“Yesterday’s attack took place during a celebration of Hanukkah, a holiday that celebrates the power of hope during bleak times and the determination of the Jewish people to survive against overwhelming odds. In that spirit, we send our love to the Monsey Jewish community, to the Hasidic community, to our Jewish family in New York and everywhere. Our pain must not be exploited to score political points, to spread fear, or to endanger other communities. We remain more determined than ever to continue organizing in solidarity for an end to hatred, bigotry and violence against our Jewish community and all people.”
