New York – Following the release of House Republicans’ proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2018, Rabbi Jason Kimelman-Block, Director of Bend the Arc Jewish Action, released the following statement:

“The House Republicans’ proposed budget demonstrate their contempt for the challenges that millions of Americans face every day and their unrelenting drive to cut taxes for their wealthy supporters.

Like the Trump budget, the House Republicans’ version would make deep cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, Meals on Wheels and many other programs that our grandparents, children, friends and neighbors rely on. These cuts have one clearly articulated goal - to pay for billions in tax cuts for the wealthy donors that finance their campaigns. This blatant disregard for the common good is at odds with the values we hold dear as Jews: compassion, fairness, caring for the sick and elderly, education, and building an economy that works for everyone. Our members across the country will be speaking out in opposition to this budget and the immoral vision for America it represents.”
