We are sad to share with you that Pursuing Justice 2020 will no longer take place as an in-person gathering. Instead, we will gather together online.
Due to the evolving situation with COVID-19 and the CDC’s recent recommendation against any large gatherings for the next 8 weeks, Pursuing Justice 2020 will no longer be taking place as an in-person gathering.
So much dreaming and planning — from over a hundred leaders, partners and staff — has gone into creating a powerful gathering for our movement. We honor all of this labor and are sad that we won’t be able to see it all come together in person.
We know that the opportunity to learn and act together in community is still needed, and are looking forward to doing so in a virtual gathering. While this is a time of great uncertainty for all of us, we know that our movement for justice is more important than ever and we are hopeful about what we can accomplish together online.
As we think individually and collectively about the impacts of COVID-19, we are reminded that all of our fates are intertwined. None of us are free until all of us are free; none of us are safe until all of us are safe. We will continue to hold our government accountable, follow the leadership of directly impacted communities, and fight for policies that ensure everyone has access to the care and needs they have during this crisis.
We are also feeling immense gratitude for everyone who has shared our vision for this in-person gathering and contributed to its planning so far.
We’re grateful to:
👏 Everyone who signed up to join us in DC
👏 Our speakers for their willingness to share their wisdom and expertise with our community
👏 Our sponsors for providing the resources to turn this vision into reality
👏 Our participating organizations for joining us in this work, now and always
👏 Our volunteer leaders for the energy they put into making Pursuing Justice happen
👏 Bend the Arc staff, board, and consultants for their deep commitment to and labor for this gathering
👏 And, we are grateful to our whole community for sharing our vision of a 3-day, 1,000-person gathering where we come together to dream about and build towards the multiracial democracy we need.
More on what’s next:
Keep your calendar marked: We’re adapting the conference to be a meaningful online experience for our movement. Stay tuned for more information soon about what our online gathering will look like, when it will take place, and how to sign up to be part of it. 👀 📆
Help support this work: We have already spent a significant portion of our conference budget to implement our vision for this gathering, and we want to be able to pay our conference vendors who are reliant on our business for their income — particularly during a time when many other events are also being cancelled and we don’t know what’s ahead.
If you had been planning to register to join us in DC, we hope you’ll consider making a donation to help us cover our in-person Pursuing Justice costs and other organizing and advocacy work in these challenging times.
If you have any questions, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are still, and always, rooted in justice and rising up in solidarity.
