WASHINGTON, DC - In response to the news that Vice President Kamala Harris had chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, Bend The Arc: Jewish Action CEO Jamie Beran released the following statement:
“Bend The Arc: Jewish Action congratulates Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, her new VP nominee. By choosing Walz, a Governor who broke records investing in public education, infrastructure, paid leave, free college and cutting childhood and elder poverty, Harris sent a clear message to voters: we confront those threatening our safety and freedom for an economy of fear and division with those who invested in them for a care economy.
Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, doubles down on a campaign of bigotry and neo-Nazi antisemitic conspiracy theories. Meanwhile, Harris’ VP nominee fought for reproductive freedom, rolled out historic protections for trans people, and decriminalized and expunged cannabis convictions.
J.D. Vance scores a 93% from Heritage Foundation’s electoral group’s report card, the same group behind Project 2025 and its open plans to forever reverse American liberties and grant Trump king-like powers. Meanwhile, Walz signed into law the biggest expansion of Minnesota voting rights in 50 years.
J.D. Vance promises to only solidify Trump’s desire to embroil this nation in flames of division and violence, abusing economic fears to do so. Walz chose to address economic needs — from child tax credits, free school lunches, fighting insulin and health insurance profiteers, free college for families making under $80,000 to the largest infrastructure bill in Minnesota history.
Together, we’re throwing our entire movement’s strength behind Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. We’re contributing crucial resources to power her to victory like we did in 2020. And as the largest Jewish grassroots campaign in the nation focused exclusively on domestic issues, we are activating our base again this year to build the multiracial, multi-faith movement to fight fascism and build a future where all of us are free.”
