Mazel tov to Abdul El-Sayed!

Mazel tov to Abdul El-Sayed!

August 05, 2026

Abdul El-Sayed just won a MAJOR progressive victory in the Michigan primary. Join a Jewish election protection phonebank to build on this momentum: Sign up for a shift this week.

Friends,

We want to say a big mazel tov to Abdul El-Sayed on winning yesterday’s Michigan primary!

When he wins in November, he will break new ground as our country’s first-ever Muslim senator and demonstrate one of Bend the Arc’s core political theories:

The best strategy for winning control of Congress is backing progressive candidates who want all Americans to thrive and making sure everyone can vote in free and fair elections.

Friends, don’t to wait until November to support progressive victories and protect our elections. Next week, Bend the Arc members are calling fellow Jews to recruit poll workers and poll monitors, the backbone of our electoral system! Can you join a two-hour shift? It’ll be joyful, connective, and you’ll get all the training you need.

Sign up for a Jews for Election Protection phonebank shift this Sunday, August 9 or Tuesday, August 11.

Recruiting poll workers might not be top of mind when you’re thinking about how to stop Trump’s desperate attempts at election interference.

But here’s what you might not know:

  • Without poll workers, people can’t vote.
  • It takes about 1 million poll workers to run an election.
  • Election administrators don’t have the resources to recruit as many people as they need.

There is a direct link between poll workers and a functioning electoral system. And we need your help to call and recruit fellow Bend the Arc members in critical states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, and North Carolina.

We hope you can join us for a volunteer shift (or two, or three!). You'll have some great conversations with like-minded Bend the Arc community members, build on this progressive victory, and keep our democracy safe from MAGA authoritarianism.

Sign up to jump on the phones and recruit fellow election protectors this Sunday or Tuesday.

With gratitude and in solidarity,
