Our Impact:

Bend the Arc: Jewish Action’s “We Rise As One” campaign to defeat Donald Trump – the nation’s largest grassroots Jewish electoral campaign of 2020 – mobilized tens of thousands of American Jews taking action for multiracial democracy, and played a key role in electing President-Elect Joe Biden, winning Democratic control of the Senate, and holding the Democratic majority in the House.

The campaign included the largest voter contact operation of any Jewish organization in the country with volunteers making nearly 5 million voter contact attempts across our programs, raising over $940,000 in PAC contributions to 63 endorsed candidates, a six-figure ad campaign reaching Jewish swing voters in key states, a robust rapid response and earned media campaign, field units in nearly 30 cities across the country, and virtual solidarity actions that helped Jewish activists and our allies join together to take action despite the COVID pandemic.

The result of this unprecedented mobilization was clear. A historic 77% of Jewish Americans (a seven-point increase from 2016) voted to overcome a politics of fear, division, and lies — a politics which endangers Jews, Muslims, people of color, immigrants, and so many other communities. Bend the Arc volunteers mobilized like never before to flip states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, and Arizona, and win races up and down the ballot. More than two-thirds of Bend the Arc’s endorsed candidates won their races, including Senators Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff of Georgia, Mark Kelly of Arizona, and John Hickenlooper of Colorado, as well as Kathy Manning of North Carolina.

In 2018, our “Interrupt Trump” GOTV campaign made more than 375,000 voter contact attempts in 51 key congressional districts, helping flip 28 seats to win the House majority and a critical check on the Trump administration That cycle, Bend the Arc Jewish Action PAC raised and distributed more than $500,000 to support the 42 candidates it endorsed at the federal and gubernatorial levels.

In 2016, our ”We’ve Seen This Before” campaign was named the most valuable activist campaign of 2016 by The Nation, recognized for our moral clarity in ringing the alarm bell on the threats of Trump’s white nationalism and authoritarianism. The campaign, the only national Jewish effort to stop Trump’s election, kicked off with ‘Vigils Against Violence’ in over 50 cities across the country, included a television ad responding to Trump’s attacks on immigrants, and galvanized thousands of Jews to take action online and in the streets. Our ‘Let My People GOTV’ initiative that year mobilized Jewish activists nationwide to knock on the doors of over 20,000 voters for Hillary Clinton in Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
