The plan after Labor Day: Events for your September calendar

The plan after Labor Day: Events for your September calendar

August 30, 2024

After Labor Day, the election will feel like it’s around the corner — because it will be!

Every election year, the staff and leaders at Bend the Arc find strategic opportunities for Jews and allies to make an impact. So this September, you can volunteer, join workshops, and add your voice to the groundswell to build the country of our dreams. See below:

Text voters in the critical swing state of Wisconsin

Wisconsin is a battleground state with a lot at stake on all levels of the ballot. Bend the Arc is partnering with Wisconsin Working Families Power (WFO) to help voters make a plan to vote — so every voice in our multiracial democracy is heard. Join Jews and friends to text voters this coming Thursday, September 5th at 7pm ET / 6pm CT.

Ready to deepen your skills? Dismantling Antisemitism, the 201 training series, is here

If you’ve joined one of our previous Dismantling Antisemitism trainings, you’re ready for the next four installments with Chief Vision Officer Graie Hagans and communications expert Sharon Goldtzvik. These in-depth sessions will be more intimate spaces where you can bring questions, case studies, and examples to workshop, including how to effectively respond to antisemitism incidents. RSVP for the Dismantling Antisemitism 201 trainings, Mondays in September.

Bend the Arc chapters are fighting for Jewish values in their communities — like opposing mask bans in New York

You’ve probably heard about the dangerous mask ban that passed in Nassau County. Bend the Arc leaders in New York are organizing to fight back alongside a powerful local coalition of NYCLU, Nassau Residents for Good Governance, Jews for Mask Rights, and disabilities rights groups. Read “Nassau's poorly written mask ban won't fight antisemitism,” featuring Bend the Arc, plus find your nearest chapter at our Act Locally page.

Listen and share: Changemakers at the DNC, Rabbi Jason Kimelman-Block’s vision for 2025

The State of Belief podcast captured inspiring faith leader voices at the Democratic National Convention, including our Washington Director Rabbi Jason Kimelman-Block. “In 2025, I think about putting behind the politics of division and fear because that is how so many people build power. In the Torah, there’s a commandment that happens over and over again, which is not to be afraid.” Listen to more faith reflections at the DNC here.
