Bend the Arc Statement on the Reconciliation Bill

Bend the Arc Statement on the Reconciliation Bill

June 10, 2026

Republicans just gave Trump another ICE slush fund. But our fight is far from over.

Once again, Republicans in Congress passed legislation to further fund ICE and Border Patrol. This time not just for a year, but through the entire remainder of Trump’s presidency. And horrifyingly, they added a special extra fund for attacking cities that don’t cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. This is a shanda — a shame, a scandal, a disgrace for the ages.

While American families are struggling to put food on the table and pay for healthcare, MAGA Republicans are robbing us to enact more of the deadly violence we saw on the streets of Minneapolis.

Across the nation, warehouses designed to store the food and materials we need to feed our families are used instead to store immigrants: an Amazon “Prime but with human beings," as former acting ICE Director Todd Lyons proudly boasted

Nothing could be more repugnant or further from the Jewish imperative to recognize that every human being is b’tzelem elohim: made in the divine image, sacred unto themselves, and inherently deserving of safety, dignity, and community.

We aren’t sitting on our hands in response. We’re organizing in the streets and towards the polls, planning for massive election protection and know your rights trainings. Communities across the country are continuing to provide the mutual aid that has allowed families to keep sending their kids to school and buying groceries.

And we’ve already seen our impact. We shook the regime into dropping ICE leaders. We successfully organized Democrats to hold the line during a government shutdown to oppose more money for ICE in Trump’s budget. We helped force the process to drag on for weeks, embarrassing Trump and congressional Republicans while keeping the public focus on how unpopular these measures are.

This is not the end.

Together we will continue to fight more money for ICE, to repeal the billions already granted, and to redirect those funds back to our families. And this fall, we will elect leaders who will respect our democracy, end the federal violence unleashed on our cities, protect immigrants, and begin to push this nation back towards its promise of an authentic multifaith, multiracial democracy.

All of our lives are at stake.
