The deadly shooting at a Trump rally this past weekend was a sobering reminder of how dangerous the politics of fear and division are. Our nation is at a crossroads, with hatred and violence on one side and safety in solidarity on the other.

We dream of — and take action for — a future where we are all safe. In the future we are building, assault rifles are off the streets, violence is never used for political ends, and employing the politics of division and fear is a losing strategy. We have something better to offer: a vision of a true multiracial democracy where all can thrive.

The result of the presidential election is not a foregone conclusion — a lot can change between now and November. Unfortunately, the current polls look rough. With a green light from the Supreme Court to operate with impunity, and with Project 2025's far-right shadow government in waiting, Trump could end democracy as we know it if he's elected.

But we have real opportunities to elect Democrats who will fight to protect our rights and our democracy, no matter who is in the White House.
