Right now, we have a chance to recommit to each other.
During the High Holidays, our tradition teaches that we must come together in community to do the spiritual work for individual and collective transformation.
Building a thriving multiracial democracy is much the same. We hear the wake-up call, we join together, and we repeat the words of our ancestors:
“Are you registered to vote? Do you need help finding your polling place? Your vote matters.”
Ok, so maybe that’s not literally what we say in synagogue, but the truth is that winning elections is possible when we show up and recommit to each other. In 2020, Bend the Arc supporters made nearly 5 million calls and texts to Jewish and swing state voters — we did that together.
Right now, we’re doing it again: getting out the vote in critical swing states where voter disenfranchisement, despair, and other barriers get in the way of making sure every voice is heard. We need you with us. Can you join our upcoming textbank to encourage voters this Sunday, Oct. 6?
Like the spiritual journey of the High Holidays — and the political journey of building a democracy that protects our freedoms, families, and futures — it’s always better together.
Chag Sameach (happy new year),
