As a Haitian Jew, the weeks since the debate have broken my heart — watching the immigrant communities in Springfield keep their children home while daily bomb threats are called in to schools and supermarkets.1
Then yesterday, at a campaign event on antisemitism, Trump said that if he loses, ‘the Jewish people would have a lot to do’ with it.2
With the yahrzeit of the Tree of Life shooting weeks away, I am enraged that Trump would continue to put immigrants and Jews in danger in this way. For both my Jewish and Haitian family, and for all of our safety and freedoms, I am committed to defeating Trump.
Your donation today — of any amount — will help meet the demand of this moment, recruiting a powerful force of volunteers to get out the vote and defeat Trump.
I’m a Haitian Jew for Kamala because every day Trump makes clear what he stands for, and what a second term would look like: fear-mongering lies about immigrants and Jews, collaboration with fascist, antisemitic strongmen, and a dismantling of the institutions that exist to help keep us safe, all while bolstering his own power and ego.
In 2015, Bend the Arc was the first Jewish organization to sound the alarm about Donald Trump's bigoted and violent agenda with our “We've Seen this Before” campaign. In 2020, we helped defeat Trump at the ballot box by mobilizing voters to flip Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, and Arizona for Biden.
This election, we’re fighting every day to defeat Trump and his MAGA movement — running phonebanks, textbanks, canvasses, and more to help elect Kamala Harris and win critical down-ballot races to protect Democratic seats in the Senate and House.
We’re also running trainings on antisemitism to equip Jews and allies with the tools to dismantle the machinery of fear and division.
From my family to yours, Shabbat Shalom and thank you for your ongoing support and solidarity. It makes moments like this bearable to know that we have each others’ backs.
With love and commitment,
Rachèl Laforest
Chief Campaigns Officer, Bend the Arc
