After weeks of sowing chaos for Americans instead of holding ICE accountable for their lawless, violent rampages, Trump and Republicans said they were ready to negotiate ending the government shutdown.
Well, I’ve heard their proposals — and they would do nothing to meaningfully stop ICE violence.
Democrats are holding the line for now, after months of hearing from our movements, but this is the moment to keep up the pressure!
Negotiations are at a critical point with long delays at TSA this week and Trump now sending ICE agents to airports around the country.
The Senate is on the cusp of a two week break for Passover and Easter and we need real solutions that pay TSA agents for their work and protect our communities from ICE now!
Republicans are offering more ICE training (which we know will not change their behavior) and body-cameras (which we know will not stop their murderous violence). As Jews Against ICE, we demand more, including requiring judicial warrants for arrests, protections for hospitals, schools, and houses of worship, an end to racial profiling, and cuts to the budget they built by stealing money that should be going to our healthcare and social services.
It’s a critical moment to raise our voices and keep up the collective pressure.
