Today I am participating in a massive day of action in Minneapolis, after organizers asked faith leaders from across the country to come and bear witness to what is happening in their city.
As the CEO of Bend the Arc: Jewish Action, it feels urgent for me to continue the long tradition of American Jews rising up with our neighbors to fight for the soul of our nation.
Because we’re at a critical inflection point in the fight to stop an authoritarian consolidation of power.
What we’re seeing in Minneapolis would not be possible without normalizing the deployment of federal agents to DC, Los Angeles, Portland, Chicago. And they will continue testing and targeting us until we stop them. If we do not intervene now, Minneapolis is only the beginning.

Time and time again, across the globe, we have seen that the only way to truly stop an authoritarian takeover is sustained civil action — individuals and people everywhere refusing to comply, speaking out, demanding justice, and rejecting this as our new normal.
I am moved by my fellow faith leaders, across religious traditions, who answered the call to come to Minneapolis and bear witness this week.
And I’m even more moved by the people of Minnesota, who have been showing up day in and day out to protect each other. The threats they face have not deterred the incredible response from protestors, journalists, community leaders, and everyday neighbors.
